Adetunji Adenekan

Doctor Adetunji Adenekan, consultant vitreoretinal surgeon and expert in retinopathy in sickle cell disease

Dr Adetunji Olusesan Adenekan is an Associate Professor and Honourary Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Retina Specialist.

He serves as the Residency Training Programme Coordinator and lead of the Retina Unit including the Diabetic, Sicke Cell and HIV eye care services at the Department of Ophthalmology, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) and Guinness Eye Center, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

He is a training faculty, West African College of Surgeons/Moorfields Lions Korle Bu Trust diabetic retinopathy management course.

He had his undergraduate education at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, his Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and obtained his Retina Fellowship from the Aravind Eye Hospital, India.

He is actively involved in various collaborative research and medical education in ophthalmology and medicine.

He describes himself as an engaging and effective individual with excellent work ethics and abilities. He has years of service and leadership in the Medical Profession as a past leader of the Nigerian Medical Association and presently the secretary Vitreoretinal Society of Nigeria.
